Your kids at home just had their pre-school classes online finished and are ready to turn off the laptop, or so you thought? They start fiddling around with the keyboard just to go to the most reliable video-sharing website. They spend another extra hour with their eyes fixated on the screen.

If you ever spot them rubbing their eyes occasionally or complaining about an itch that’s always there. You might realize that they are developing some symptoms of eye strain. Constant viewing of digital screens often makes their eyes work a lot harder causing several effects, this is what we call computer vision syndrome.

Can Children be affected by the syndrome?

Studies from The Vision Council revealed that about 25% of children spend more than 3 hours a day using digital devices. Children can actually end up having computer vision syndrome (CVS) if they are exposed to computers or other digital devices for long periods of time. The longer they use those devices the more it can worsen in the long term.

The reason for this is that digital devices that display things on screen are made out of pixels that the eyes are not used to. This can in return cause the child to feel uncomfortable and your child might also have a tendency to put their faces close to the screens, due to the fact that they don’t have the power to focus on those pixelated images for a long period of time.

The Effects of CVS

Most of the effects of CVS are related to blue-light, a term which you’re probably familiar with if you’ve seen advertisements popping around about it for eyewear products such as ours

  • Eye strain: This can cause fatigue, dry eyes, lack of lighting, or sitting in front of a computer can cause eye strain. Symptoms of eye strain include eye pain, inflammation, and being out of focus.
  • Retina damage: This can cause damage to the retina cells within your child’s eyes and terrible vision problems (you can read more about it here.)
  • Seizures: Yes, blue light can cause epilepsy if your child is photosensitive. Flashing lights and screen brightness can trigger children to have these seizures.
  • Headaches: These are very common, as mentioned earlier your eyes have to constantly work on identifying many objects all around you. Children do not have a strong focus on things which can result in them having headaches as their brain is figuring out what’s going on in their screens (GIFS, animations, video games, etc etc etc).

Why it’s important to have blue light glasses

We can’t stress how much it is needed for your children to have anti blue light glasses, especially in a day and age where people are required to face a screen for half a day just to do their work or studies. Our children should have their little eyes protected so that when they grow older they would not have to worry about their health. Always remember to limit their screen time and apply a 20-20-20 rule for them.

Digital Screen Time KO

In this day and age children are exposed to a large set of various gadgets ranging from wide-screen televisions, to phones, computers, and even more recent ones like VR (virtual reality) headsets.

As a new generation arises more and more of our children have become tuned to using them for long periods of time. And what adds more to that is the COVID pandemic which has caused nation-wide lockdowns throughout the globe forcing parents to keep their children indoors, while the children themselves are required to do their studies online through a screen.

According to an article written by a researcher from the Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG). Children who are more exposed to screen-time and have less physical activities to do have become more irritable if they are not on the internet or on a smartphone. This can cause various health problems that can lead to eye strain, neck pain, sleep problems and various other issues.

Now, we are not saying that your kids should be completely banned from using gadgets, but rather, we are showing how to make those negative effects less likely to happen by setting proper rules to help your kids have self-control when it comes to using everyday gadgets.

Setting Up Good Rules and Giving Them Safety Blue Light Glasses

Simply instructing your kids to suddenly stop using their gadgets while they are going about their business won’t really change how they behave. We need to understand how you can apply good and healthy rules that will help your child in understanding.

These are simple things on how you can establish a limited-screen time for your kids:

  • No cellphones on the table during meal times.
  • Get them into physical activities (violin classes, basketball clubs, ballet, etc, etc).
  • No using of gadgets when it’s dark.
  • At least limit it to 1-2 hours from time to time.
  • Don’t bring your gadgets everywhere (bathrooms, swimming pools, religious gatherings, etc, etc).

Don’t forget that you can also buy them blue light glasses that help block out blue light from screens. You can even get glasses that are anti-radiation so that your child’s eyes don’t get easily irritated or dry out fast. This is essential in the long run so that your kids’ vision doesn’t blur out the older they get. This is why in Kids Optics™️ we fully recognize the usefulness of them.

Your child’s vision is undoubtedly one of the most important things you want to protect. If your child suffers from vision issues, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, or other health issues because of too much screentime then it is vital that you choose safety lenses on their blue light glasses to protect them further.

What is Polycarbonate Lens?

Polycarbonate eyeglasses are an excellent alternative to other materials because they are lightweight, shatterproof and most importantly they provide 100% UV protection. Polycarbonate lenses are safe, affordable, and available in a wide range of styles. You can find polycarbonate in glasses that you buy for yourself and for your kids as well.

Polycarbonate is for people who want strong, lightweight glasses that can withstand hard use. Using polycarbonate instead of glass makes the glasses much more durable, so you can get several years of use from them.

How do Polycarbonate Lenses Protect Your Kid’s Eyes?

As children are at a higher risk for eye injuries because of their exploratory nature, it’s more important than ever to ensure that you have the proper eyewear. Knowing that polycarbonate lenses can protect a child’s eyes from harmful UV radiation and blue light from digital screens is very useful in choosing a pair of glasses.

Without the need for extra lens coatings, the polycarbonate material acts as a natural UV filter, blocking approximately 99 percent of the sun’s harmful UV rays.

It’s a good idea to choose eyeglasses for children that filter not only UV rays but also blue light. A cost-effective and convenient option is polycarbonate photochromic lenses which are clear lenses that darken when exposed to sunlight. They provide ample protection from blue light at all times.

Wearing eyeglasses that filter both UV rays and blue light is the best way to protect the eyes of children and teenagers. Polycarbonate photochromic lenses are a convenient and cost-effective option that can be found in a range of styles by companies like Kids Optics.

Kids Optics Anti Blue Light Glasses are made with polycarbonate lens material that is safe for children’s eyewear for protection.

Our society has moved forward into the digital age, but it has also come with many detriments to ourselves and our health. On average, people spend over thirteen hours a day sitting in front of their computer or even more if you count smartphone use. That’s a lot of time, thankfully we don’t do that every second of the day though! We still have time for other things like going out to get groceries and taking care of some housework before relaxing at home in front of the TV.

You might think all this screen-time is innocent enough since we can easily shut our eyes when texting someone on our smartphones or look away from the computer screen while working at home, but research shows that we are being exposed to high levels of blue light which causes eye strain, blurred vision, headaches, and poor sleep schedules just to name a few negative side effects.

Anti blue light glasses are becoming increasingly popular as a way to protect our eyes from blue light that is emitted by electronic devices, especially at night time. While we’ve discussed what blue light does to our bodies and the scientific reasons why we should care about it, there are still common questions about them or about purchasing them.

Do anti blue light glasses work?

Yes, blue light glasses are a wise purchase for people who work long hours on digital devices, as they provide measurable benefits and can help lessen the effects of eyestrain further down the line. The effectiveness of these blue light glasses is still being studied, but doctors said that they are unlikely to cause harm, especially to children.

Can you wear blue light glasses all day?

Wearing anti blue light glasses is a great way to maintain eye health. It’s also safe enough especially for children to wear these health-protecting specs so they can not only be safe when looking at screens but also when outside playing sports or any other outdoor activity that exposes your pupils to scorching sun rays.

How does blue light blocking glasses reduce eye strain?

Blue light blocking glasses help to reduce the strain on your eyes when you’re using devices that emit a lot of blue light like phones, laptops, and computers. It includes a specific coating that protects your eyes from the dangerous blue light rays. Blue light is a form of high-energy visible (HEV) light that comes off these screens and can possibly cause damage to one’s eyes over time – and some even say it has been linked to certain eye diseases as well sleeplessness in extreme cases.

Can Bluelight Glasses Hurt Your Eyes?

You can always wear anti blue light glasses. No problems so far.

Who should wear blue light filter glasses?

Adults and children should wear blue light blocking glasses when spending hours on a computer screen, tablet, smartphone, or TV. Adults spend about 8 hours a day looking at computer screens in the workplace. Children are often on handheld devices for studying or playing. Both adults and children are overexposed to harmful blue light from digital screens.

Did you know that wearing sunglasses to defend against UV rays is just as vital as wearing a hat? The sun’s light is split into three types called “visible” light, “ultraviolet (UV)” rays, and the part that hits anything but our eyes. The sun’s UV rays cause sunburn, they can also damage our eyes.

Effects of Excessive UV Rays on Unprotected Eyes

People who go on holiday to sunny locales for a little fun in the sun should be wary of unprotected exposure to ultraviolet rays. If your unprotected eyes are exposed to excessive amounts of UV rays over a short period of time, you could experience a sunburn of the eye.

This eye condition is also known as ultraviolet keratitis or photokeratitis. It is usually only temporary, but it can be uncomfortable, producing dryness and irritation, as well as a gritty feeling in the eyes and increased light sensitivity.

How to Protect Your Eyes from UV Damage?

Wear Sunglasses or BlueLight Shades

Wear pair of sunglasses or bluelight shades that states it blocks 100% of both UVA and UVB exposure and 80-100% of visible light. Make sure they also block 50-90% of blue light (a wavelength responsible for disrupting melatonin production) – this will make it easier to see things in the distance as well.

Do Not Stare at the Sun

Looking directly at the sun can damage your eyes and potentially cause blindness. You should wear authentic sunglasses that block UV rays.

Your eyes are very sensitive to UV rays, and they are easily damaged if you are not careful. When you are out in the sun, remember to wear sunglasses with UV protection and avoid staring directly at the sun. If you spend a lot of time at the beach, you should also consider wearing a hat to protect your face, neck, and head from UV rays.

CleverPops Anti Blue Light Eyeglasses

Artificial Blue Light has been named as the culprit behind many eye-related disorders like macular degeneration and glaucoma. Using blue light filter glasses is one of the ways to prevent eye problems caused by blue light from digital screens. However, the answer to the question “do all blue light glasses have a yellow tint?” is NO. This blog will help you understand the different properties of the various Blue Light Glasses available.

There are three different types of blue light blockers, each with their own unique qualities depending on your needs.

Clear Lenses

Blue light glasses have been around for a while as a way to protect the eyes from blue light emitted by digital screens. These blue blockers have been used by a lot of industries as a way to protect their eyes, especially when looking at digital screens. However, many are now offering glasses that have a clear lens that looks as though you are wearing regular glasses. These blue blockers are often called computer glasses or anti-fatigue glasses.

Computer glasses with clear lenses are worn during the daytime when indoors and exposed to any source of artificial light. This could be from office lights, laptops, smartphones, or your TV. They work by filtering blue light that causes digital eyestrain.

Orange or Red Tinted Glasses

The purpose of orange or red glasses with a blue tint is to enhance sleep. These glasses should be used at night time as some blue light helps to stimulate the production of cortisol in the morning and can help battle seasonal affective disorder during the day.

Yellow Tinted Glasses

Blue blockers with a yellow tint filter approximately 50% of blue light. Unlike regular clear lens computer glasses, yellow-tinted blue blockers are recommended for those whose visual workload is particularly strenuous and is usually the best choice for people that do things on digital screens.

Eye strain or digital eye strain is a common problem that is caused by looking at digital screens for a long time. It is a condition where people feel discomfort, pain, or soreness in their eyes.

We will discuss how these blue light glasses reduce the strain on the eyes and what results can you expect.

What Causes Digital Eye Strain?

According to a recent study, the digital devices we use nowadays can lead to digital eye strain.  As a result, more and more children are suffering from digital eye strain, which can cause damage to the eye and affect their vision. Kids get digital eye strain is because they spend an unhealthy amount of time looking at screens.

Our eyes get tired of looking at screens for a number of reasons. First, the light coming off of them makes our pupils open larger than normal, which causes us to squint and adjust our heads to sharper angles in order to focus on what we’re seeing more clearly. Secondly, the lack of detail that users experience when reading from digital media is due in large part because particle sizes within the ink of a printing press are so much finer than those that are used in digital technology — they’re half as wide! This smaller particle size leads to increased reflectivity and lighting elements may cause glare that diminishes definition and clarity even further. And finally, small print sizes reduce factors influencing readability such as letter stroke and line spacing. As a result, our eyes have to work harder when viewing screens (unless pixels become so small they can compete with those of printed words).

Blue light itself is not harmful, but its unnatural excess can be detrimental to your vision and quite possibly your health. In order to combat the positive effects of blue light, we suggest avoiding any sources that may radiate the offensive light such as Smartphones, tablets, laptops, TVs, and anything with an LED screen.

How Blue Light Glasses Reduce Eye Strain?

Blue light glasses come with a special coating that helps shield your eye from the harmful rays of blue light coming off your phone, laptop, or computer screen. It’s important to remember that these lenses aren’t made for looking through at distant objects because they are crafted specifically to protect your eyesight in close proximity to these types of screens.

When looking through lenses that block blue light with wavelengths less than 450 nm, the contrast is dramatically increased. As a result, blue light spectacles with yellow-tinted lenses may provide more comfort when looking at displays for long periods of time.

Anti blue light glasses have been getting a lot of attention for their ability to reduce eye strain and improve sleep not only for adults but also for kids. But some people suggest that these can actually damage your eyes. Is this true? Can wearing blue light-blocking glasses really damage your eyes? Let’s find out.

How do Anti Blue Light Glasses for Kids Prevent Damage to Eyes?

Blue light blocking glasses are a brilliant way to protect your kid’s eyes from harmful blue light and UV rays. The blue light from your screen is very harmful and must be absorbed in order to avoid any damage or eye strain.

Sunlight encompasses the entire visible light spectrum (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet) as well as non-visible light (ultra violet and infrared).

Using artificial lights like the LCD screens of cellphones, laptops, and tablets is not a good thing and can be really harmful. The blue light emitted from these screens can damage your eyes within a few hours of exposure, according to the World Health Organization.

A reasonable amount of blue light and UV rays is natural; these rays of blue light are found all around us and provide health benefits. However, too much of a good thing might harm your eyes.

Can Bluelight Glasses Hurt Your Eyes?

When it comes to protecting your eyes, you can wear anti blue light glasses as usual with no issues.

The blue light glasses are designed to block harmful light coming from digital screens and UV rays.

Blue light isn’t dangerous in and of itself, as long as it comes from natural sources. Excessive blue light from displays, smartphones, and LED lights has been scientifically proven to cause eye strain, mental tiredness, sleep disturbances, and cardiovascular issues.

With today’s technology-driven world, the side effects of being exposed to too much blue light have become a bigger concern to the general public. We are surrounded by blue light. It can be found in direct sunlight. LED light bulbs, television screens, smartphone displays, and computer monitors all include it. Although blue light is generally safe, it has the potential to do harm to the body when overexposed.

So, who should be wearing blue light glasses?

Digital Screens

Kids and adults should wear blue light blocking lenses when spending hours on computer screens, tablets, smartphones, and TV screens.

Many adults spend 8 hours a day looking at computer screens during work as well as kids on handheld devices for studying or playing. It is a lot of screen time. Overexposure can cause a variety of side effects, such as dry eyes and headaches.

It is best to wear blue light eyeglasses to protect your eyes from harmful blue light emitted on digital screens.

Blue light is found naturally in sunlight. While it may feel great to have your eyes exposed to the sun in the summer, it should be noted that the sun can have damaging effects on your eyes as well. While being aware of the impacts of the sun on your skin, it is just as important to be aware of the impact on your eyes.

There are blue light shades in the market today that can be used indoors and outdoors. These eyeglasses use photochromatic lenses. Photochromatic lenses are lenses that have a change in color as well as a change in its transparency due to the UV rays of the sun. Photochromatic lenses are also known as Transition lenses.

At Home

LED light bulbs might seem like the eco-friendly option but they emit blue light that destroys your sleep. Wear your anti blue light glasses anytime to minimize exposure to blue light.
